Better Beef by Nature

In 1990, Robert Meyer first stepped foot on the green pastoral land of what would soon become Meyer Company Ranch. Coming home to his agricultural family roots, he purchased the original ranch outside of Helmville, Montana and did what anyone with a ranch in Montana would do: he bought some cows.

Meyer didn’t buy just any cows, he opted for Red Angus. Red Angus are known to stockman for their excellent genetics and easy nature and known to chefs for their high quality meat with exceptional marbling. He started using embryo implants and artificial insemination of the best genetics available and quickly made a name for himself creating consistently high quality beef.

Meyer Company Ranch has been antibiotic free, hormone free, and humanely raising Red Angus cattle ever since.

From our ranch to the world.

Each year the calf crop from Meyer Company Ranch goes into our Meyer Natural Foods program. Ranch calves are certified natural by an independent third party and sold under the “Meyer Natural Angus” label. But we don’t just stop at being certified ‘natural’, we live it.

To us, natural is more than a label. It’s a combination of land stewardship, humane and thoughtful animal husbandry and a team of people who are passionate about keeping nature at the center of our operation.

Humane: Pasture to Plate

Meyer Company Ranch’s mission is and always has been to produce the best beef in the most natural ways possible. To us, this means calving and raising our cattle on green idyllic pastures in the shadows of the Garnet Mountains. They are worked off of horseback and foot which aside from being low-stress also is more friendly to the land and wildlife. We’ve gone to great lengths to develop, research, and implement low stress methods and infrastructure for our cattle. We’re committed to building better beef, naturally.

“If you’re gonna have good cattle,
you better raise them the way
Mother Nature wants them raised.”

— Bob Meyer

Being a sustainable operation doesn’t just mean creating a sustainable cattle operation, it means working and existing in harmony with the landscape we inhabit. We are committed to to creating and stewarding low-stress healthy environments for our cattle and the wild flora and fauna of the ranch and surrounding ecosystem.

After all, the best steaks are built from the soil up.
